The annual Graduate Networking Dinner will be held at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom on the 1 April 2008 with Chevron as the naming sponsor. This event gives students the opportunity to meet representatives from a number of engineering companies to discuss future graduate employment.
Students share their three course meal with three different companies and are also able to chat informally to other companies over pre-dinner drinks. This is a great opportunity to make yourself known to potential employers as well as to develop your networking skills and enjoy a fantastic and affordable three course meal complete with drinks! We have a record 27 companies occupying 36 tables this year and it is definitely an event not to be missed.
On Friday 28th March 2008 the School of Mechanical Engineering will be hosting the First Year Engineers Office Friday from noon to 1.45pm. This is a networking event where first year students can meet with academics from the school, older students and local members of industry. It is your chance to find out if you want to study mechatronics, materials, mechanical, oil and gas, or chemical and process engineering!
First year students will sign in and pick up a name badge. The Head of School will make a short summary of the state of the 'Mechanical' industry and will introduce staff and guests. As first years, this is now your opportunity to have a light lunch and begin networking. Office Fridays give you a chance to learn how to talk about business and your degree.
After a great result last week the girls are in the finals for softball this week.

We hope to see as many of you down their either competing or cheering on the girls.
The girls faced law in the semi final and narrowly went down after a great performance, the girls were then supposed to face science in the 3rd place playoff, however science had to forfeit the game leaving the girls with a well deserved third place.

Attention First Year students! By week three you know where your lectures are and who your lecturers are. But are you still finding your way around the ECM faculty? Would you like some free Easter Eggs and a BBQ? How about some prizes?
This year the UEC is organising an Easter Egg Expedition (Hunt) around important locations in the ECM faculty. It starts from the common room, at 12 noon, and is followed by a free BBQ behind ELT1 at 1pm. The BBQ gives you the opportunity to connect with students and chat with staff in an informal atmosphere.
Next up on the sporting calender is cricket for the guys and softball for the girls.
The cricket is in a knockout format, with each team bowling a maximum of 10 overs. We will be taking on ecoms and be looking for revenge for the defeat in the soccer. Win or lose, we will still have another game against the winner/loser of the Law v Arts game. These matches will be played at the UWA Sports Park which is situated off campus, so if you are interested in playing please meet me infront of the common room at 12.30pm so we can organise how we will get there. The final will be played the following week, March 26th on James oval.
Kick start your Graduate applications! Enjoy a presentation from Structerre about the company and its graduate program followed by an informal, free BBQ where students are free to talk to Structerre representatives. All final year and penultimate year students are encouraged to attend, this is especially advisable for civil students.
The hardships of university life call for the other three R's...rest, relaxation, and reigning supreme in Interfaculty Sports!!! You can come and play any sports you like on Wednesday afternoons whilst mingling with your fellow Engines. There are sports for the ladies and gents, as well as a few mixed events. All Engines are welcome to come along!
Week 2 kicks off with 5 on 5 soccer for both women and men. Your skill or experience isn't important - it's all about having a blast and enjoying the finer parts of uni life. Meet outside the common room at 1pm. Studs are allowed for these matches.
