Cocktail Party - CANCELLED

The UEC is proud to present the latest social event juggernaut - Cocktail Party on Friday 22nd August sponsored by Western Power. Last year this event sold out, so make sure you don't miss out on this awesome party, 'cos its gonna be huge!

Once again, Cocktail Party will be on campus. With more colour, beats and lights than ever before. Get your killer frocks and suave suits ready because this year we are uping the ante - more class, more food, more DJs and greater variety in your drinks choices.

Tickets: $5, on sale from the 28th of July. You can buy tickets from a committee member or from outside the common room between 1-2pm daily.

Interfaculty Sport - Hockey

Hockey will be played on the 20th of August from 1pm on James Oval.

They guys will be looking to defend their title as they take on Sports Science, Medicine and Arts, while the girls face Sports Science, Medicine and Science.

 

Structerre Presentation and BBQ

The presentation will be followed by a FREE BBQ where you can also talk to past graduates and current staff.

Vacation Work Expo

The UEC Vacation Work Expo is on once again - bigger and better! Come and explore the huge range of vacation work options available and build your networking skills. Company reps will be on hand to answer any questions and are giving away interesting promotional material.
The event will be held in two sessions, the first from 4.30 - 6.30 and the second from 6.30 - 8.30. At the end of each session, our event sponsor Hatch will give a short presentation. Tickets for cost $5, with a choice of either session and go on sale from Monday 28th July.

UWA Expo

The UWA Expo is on again!

A great opportunity for budding engineers to see what studying at UWA and as part of the Engineering, Computing and Mathematics Faculty is all about!

The ECM Faculty presentations will be held in the Octagon Theatre, far away from our home on campus. But is is an easy walk to James Oval where lectures and students await your questions. Come into the Civil and Mechanical Building to learn about the different types of engineering...we have 17 difference disciplines this year!

Beijing Water Cube Lecture and Sundowner

Come and learn about the Beijing Water Cube on the eve of the Olympics from the man behind the design! Tristram Carfrae believes the Water Cube is a "representation of a mathematical idea" and it is as if the pool complex is "carved into an infinite geometric pattern".

The Water Cube can accomodate up to 17000 spectators, reduces sound and blocks UV radiation. The building is also energy efficient, as the walls and roof allow in light and heat to reduce power consumption.

A networking opportunity will follow the talk, with Tristram and other Arup representatives attending. Food and drink is provided.

Interfaculty Sport - Volleyball

Interfaculty sport is back for second semester with volleyball kicking things off on the 6th of August at the Rec. Centre. The women's competition commences at 1.15 with games against Law, Ecoms and Science. The men will start at 1.55 with games against Med, Arts and the School of Indigenous Studies.

Office Friday by the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering

On Friday 1st August 2008 the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering will be hosting the First Year Engineers Office Friday from noon to 2pm. This is a networking event where first year students can meet with academics from the school, older students and local members of industry. It is your chance to find out if you want to study electrical and electronic engineering; computer engineering; or process instrumentation and control engineering!

As first years, this is your opportunity to have a light lunch and begin networking. Office Fridays give you a chance to learn how to talk about business and your degree.

Dress is smart casual - a collared shirt and no denim.

EndNote Training Session

Do you have to complete reports, group assignments or your thesis? Would you like to know more about EndNote, a program that organises your references and can automatically create your bibliography?

An EndNote training session will be held in the Reid Library Training Room on the 20th of May, at 1-2pm. The venue has a capacity of only 20 people, so places are limited. If there is enough interest, a second session will be run soon afterward.
