Second Round Nominations - OPEN

The second round of UEC nominations are now open.

If you wish to apply for any of these positions please send a short spiel and a photo of yourself to secretary@uec.org.au. Please ensure you specify the position you are applying for.

Nominations will close on Monday, November 16th.

The available positions and their responsibilities are listed below:

AVAILABLE POSITIONS FOR 2010
GENERAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The following applies to the positions outlined below including Female Sports Representative, Finance Officer, Equity Officer and the Merchandise/Promotions positions.
Role requirements:
•    Sell UEC merchandise and tickets to UEC events throughout each semester
•    Organise and run the weekly UEC BBQ at least once per semester
•    Assist in promoting UEC events through word-of-mouth, whiteboards, lecture announcements, etc.
•    Assisting in organising, setting up, running and cleaning up each event

Recommended attributes of nominees:
•    A general interest in the Faculty and the UEC’s activities

•    Helps build team skills
•    Forming new friendships
•    Improved organisational skills
•    Experience in organising events


FEMALE SPORT REPRESENTATIVE
Role requirements:
•    Promote Interfaculty sport to the Faculty
•    Organise and coordinate a team for Interfaculty sport each Wednesday afternoon
•    Organise the following sporting events:

Tug'O'Law and Food Fight
Eng Vs Law Footy and Rugby

Recommended attributes of nominees:
•    Active interest in a variety of sports
•    Good people skills
•    Available on Wednesday afternoons

This position is a continuous and moderate workload.

FINANCE OFFICER
Role requirements:
As this is a new position the finance officers’ role is not yet fully defined. However, it is expected that the finance officer will:
•    Assist the treasurer in financial matters relevant to the UEC
•    Maintain the cash box and ensure that it is kept appropriately stocked
•    Assist any committee member requiring assistance with budgeting and invoicing for UEC events

Recommended attributes of nominees:
•    Confident in handling money
•    Experience working with budgets.
•    Able to work independently
•    Must be able to work closely with the treasurer in matters of finance
•    Must be trustworthy

This position is a continuous and moderate workload.


EQUITY OFFICER
Role requirements:
•    The equity officer is responsible for promoting the views and interests of all students in the faculty
•    Must work to promote events encouraging multiculturalism such as BONDage

Recommended attributes of the nominee:
•    It is important that that the Equity Officer be approachable and understanding.  
•    Nominees should be open minded and should be aware of a range of issues facing a diverse body of students.

This position is only a slight workload.


MERCHANDISE AND PROMOTIONS OFFICERS (3)

Role requirements:
•    The organisation of the design and purchasing of the UEC shirts and banner
•    Increasing our merchandising empire by investigating new and creative ideas.
•    The restocking of helmets, umbrellas, ties and any other merchandise
•    Oversee the design and printing of tickets for events.
•    Ensuring UEC events are well promoted including the design and placing of posters, the coordination of lecture announcements and the utilisation of any other form of media.

Required attributes of nominees:
•    Must be good at using software (word, publisher etc) to produce tickets and posters
•    Must be able to sell events to a diverse range of students
•    Nominees should have a creative flare when it comes to thinking of new ideas

This position is a continuous and moderate workload.


WEBMASTER
Role requirements:
•    Act as the website manager for the UEC and manage its hosting
•     Take charge of any online storage and backups
•    May be called upon to complete any other online tasks (such as the programming of online sponsorship)

Required attributes:
•    Very high all round computer skills
•    A knowledge of PHP and  SQL  databases is essential

This position is continuous and requires a large amount of time over the summer
